Social Media Spend to Sky-Rocket; Make Sure Your Business is Onboard

It's no surprise, we've been hearing about this for years; the touchy-feely nature of social media is finally on the cusp of being taken seriously as a worthwhile marketing channel for small businesses. $7.8 Billion seriously. Especially impressive when the 2011 spend was "just" $1.1 Billion. Borrell Associates, a research firm that specializes in tracking local online advertising, recently forecast local-merchant social media spending to sky-rocket over the next four years.

“Main Street Goes Social” highlighted significant growth in this area driven from the explosion in mobile in 2011 and into the coming years. This follows a recent ClickZ report, which indicated the growing trend and increasing awareness of the importance of local social media. Though Small Businesses (SMBs) usually struggle to stay ahead of most innovation in technology, the emergence of new marketing platforms will make learning and adoption much easier, particularly SMB local marketing automation. Its not hard to understand the idea.

Your local restaurant or travel agency is usually pretty focused on preparing food or booking their client's vacations. Often, the last item on the to-do list is to think about a marketing strategy, let alone have the time to go through the process of learning about social media and how to implement it. Especially when it seems to keep changing all the time! Who can keep up with it all? Silly, an automated marketing service platform, that's who! Social media is really all about marketing. Its builds followers (think: customers!) and communicates with them in a way that keeps you top of mind for the next time they choose to go out to dinner or on vacation. And if you need to market your small business (and c'mon, who doesn't?) you should be in the space.
